A Parting Word on the 2012 Purple Crush
The final outs have been recorded, cleats have been removed and the dugouts are filled with a serene peace as another fall softball co-ed season has come to a close. The Bammel Purple Crush finished their season last Monday night similar to many evenings at the ballpark --- with a 5-5 tie against Spring Creek on the scoreboard but a winning attitude up and down the roster. The Purple Crush finished the season with an overall record of 2-4-3.
Unfortunately, a full recap of the last night of softball was not filed this week. Our legion of beat writers was hastily deployed to cover an emerging story that has grabbed national attention --- The Last of the Twinkies. 'Tis true at this critical holiday juncture that confections have trumped competition for the foreseeable future.
Suzy-Qs aside, we would like to thank YOU, our faithful readership, for your steadfast subscription to the weekly softball summaries this fall. Your interest in the team and weekly feedback played an immeasurable role in the overall success of the season. If you weren't able to make it to the Monday night games, we hope that the post-game literary illustrations provided you with the ability to close your eyes and transport yourself to a magical place where worship ministers became athletic legends, rookies became grizzled vets and all those over 35 years of age avoided significant injury!
Thank you to all the players and fans for supporting the Purple Crush in 2012. And a special thanks go to Taylor Rathbun for suggesting the purple uniforms in honor of Shelby Tate at the start of the season. After all, no matter how well you catch or hit a softball, remember this: we're all on the same team trying to help each other get home.
Happy holidays...and we'll see you at the ballpark in 2013!
