Bammel Bowling Report from 17th Annual CoC Tournament
Many of you probably lost sleep last night wondering about the plight of your bowlers, but never fear! Bammel was represented well at the Houston area churches of Christ bowling tourney on Saturday, June 30. This was the 17th annual CoC bowling tourney, so you know things are serious!
The normal bowling beat writer was unavailable so all we can provide are brief snippets of the action. His Team, otherwise known as Bammel #1, was made up of veterans Gerald and Cynthia Bendele along with Paul and Le Smith. Unfortunately, this team's final scores are still subject to formal review since Gerald Bendele vehemently requested a recount of the ballots...er, frames! Gerald was quoted as saying he didn't dig through his entire garage and dust off the bowling ball (and bag) for nothing! Hahaha!
On an equally light note, the Lane Changers, or Bammel #2, had a more laid-back approach as they arrived at the AMF Diamond Lanes on a rainy Saturday. Sharing lanes with a team from Scenic Woods CoC, the team of Danielle Savaria, Caleb Davis, Hannah Davis and Jason Dyniewski brought more enthusiasm than scoring to the table. Pictured below are the three game results for the team.
Note how Danielle was the perfect leadoff bowler - increasing her score with each game. Caleb preferred an experimental approach whereby he quickly scrapped the idea of higher scores in favor of throwing as many spinning hooks into the gutter as possible. Hannah Davis proved that her Nursing major at Harding is no joke while she consistently made the pins take their medicine on several nifty split pickups! Finally, Jason's scores fluctuated as much as Caleb even though Jason claims he was "trying" the whole time. Jason would later claim that the humidity - albeit minimal humidity in the climate-controlled indoor bowling alley - sapped his strength.
Overall, the afternoon was filled with lots of fun and fellowship with several other congregations. If you didn't get a chance to make it this year, start marking your calendars for 2013. Many thanks to Kevin Derrell Wilson for coordinating the Bammel teams!
And for those wondering whether "competitive" bowling is scriptural, please take note of a well-known fact passed on to me as a child. Every time it thunders outside, that's just proof that the angels are bowling!
