Bammel Co-ed Softball Hits Bump In The Road, Falls to 2-1

NCS BASEBALL FIELD - The third week of a four-team church of Christ co-ed softball league provided both questions and answers for the upstart Bammel squad. While the roster continued to grow in size, the loss column also grew as Bammel was off the mark and fell to a spirited Memorial church of Christ team 11-5 on Monday, Sept 27. The loss knocked Bammel to an overall record of 2-1 but the team continues to build chemistry with it's ever-expanding stable of players.

Bammel suffered from a bout of inconsistent hitting and sketchy defense which they were ultimately unable to overcome on the scoreboard. Lost in the final score, however, was the fact that the team continues to grow in number every week. What started as a 4-person roster in Week 1 had doubled in size on Monday night as Bammel fielded a team of eight --- along with two youthful pickups from the other churches. Cassie Miller, Kevin Broughton and Dr. Bob Stewart made their professional Bammel debuts and look to be fixtures in a lineup filled with quite a cast of characters. The team also expects to have Christy Vincent and Jessica Dunn back in the fold for Game 4 next week.

Bammel will look to get things back on track next Monday, October 4 with a 7:00pm game-time. Tickets are still available but don't wait until the last minute to secure your seat or you might miss a chance to see Hillary Wiese push her consecutive base-on-balls streak to 5+ plate appearances. At her current clip, Hillary will easily pass Rickey Henderson as the greatest lead-off hitter of all time!

See you at the field!
