NCS BASEBALL FIELD - Week 5 of the co-ed softball season was more like "Weak" 5 after a scuffling performance by the Bammel band of brothers (and sisters) dropped the team to 3-2 on the season. A dearth of offense left the team empty-handed on the scoreboard and in the win column as Bammel was shutout by a finely tuned Champions church of Christ team, 9-0. Given the flat performance, most of the Bammel faithful look at this past Monday the same way we look at the Van Halen album featuring Gary Cherone as the lead singer. It never happened.

To his credit, captain Jason Dyniewski gave all the right answers at his post-game news conference, "...I take full responsibility for the loss both in our preparation and execution. I couldn't get a hit in key situations --- if, by key situation, you are referring to any time it was my turn in the order. Additionally, my throwing error to second base did nothing to inspire confidence in the men/women I was leading into battle. Ultimately, however, I want to express my sincere apologies to all of the fantasy co-ed Christian softball team owners that were expecting more points out of me this week. I let you all down."

Mr. Dyniewski did point out that, while the overall team result was lacking, there were a few highlights on the night from another infusion of talent to the roster. A youth movement was noticeable with Bobby Stewart collecting his first infield hit and providing steady defense at 2B. Meanwhile, Taylor Rathbun contributed with a nice defensive catch in RF. The Elias Stats Bureau is also researching whether Bammel is the first team to feature two father-son combinations (Bob/Bobby Stewart, Chuck/Taylor/Mason Rathbun) on the same roster.

Bammel will look for better form next Monday, October 18 with a 7:00pm game against Memorial church of Christ. In tribute to our fallen softball comrades, Braden Stewart (ankle) and Cassie Miller (quad), the team will be running a First Aid promotion whereby each fan will receive a free ticket for every box of band-aids that they bring through the turnstiles. Walk-ups are welcome.

See you at the field!
