BCGL Banter: Week 4 Recap

Filed on October 2, 2024

CARMEN, SAN DIEGO - Your weekly BCGL beat report is being filed from an undisclosed location this week. We are in search of the elusive Carmen and the Grady Grunts ability to score points. Any guesses on which one turns up first? Here are a couple bars to recap Week 4. Do it, Rockapella!!!

Pongo Pack 201.70, Da Bears 170.05
It started with a gentlemen’s agreement to not play a TE worth any fantasy value (Gesicki vs Andrews). It ended with a Ravens RB running over the hearts of Bears fans everywhere. Props to Castleman for pulling the classic Derrick Henry double-cross this week. Serenity, now!!!

Poppers 216.55, Uncle Rico 134.65
Like the admiral at the start of Top Gun, Week 4 called the Poppers into his office and reluctantly gave them their big shot at a 3-1 start to the season. This is what happens every time Cougar turns in his wings — which is precisely what Uncle Rico did. He lost that fantasy football feeling.

Mean Machine 235.30, Underdogs 117.20
Mean Machine picked a good day to stop sniffing markers and notch their first win of the season. Of course, facing the Underdogs is like a BYE week for most of the league. Underdogs will see better days — when the owner completes the team sale and it relocates to Las Vegas.

Braden’s Bandits 201.60, Losing INC. 152.95
Braden’s Bandits stole this week with nearly 100 points from both of their starting QBs. More importantly, neither of those QBs was a Dallas Cowboy. Losing INC has started to resemble a Red Cross tent with all the injuries and underperforming performances to start this season. Someone dial 9-1-1.

Wall Street Journals 194.35, Grady’s Grunts 110.75
The stock market is up and so are the Wall Street Journals fortunes after cruising to a 3-1 record to start the season. It’s easy money this year when you face the Grunts who are the only team to have 1,000 points scored against them after four weeks. There is no joy in Gradyville.

Paul & Glover Phenomenal Team 230.90, 2008 Lions 174.80
Did Caleb curse himself with his team name? Will Paul & Glover maintain their phenomenal grip on the top spot in the league? It’s too early to tell, but Week 4 didn’t change the story arc for either team. This week’s winner has the cooler Paul in the league. No doubt!
