On Your Left
This past weekend I completed my 8th consecutive MS 150. In reality, I did way more than that.
I can't fit it all in but here's a few highlights:
carpooled at 5am with Hayden Andrew McHan and Michael Montalvo
chatted with Michael Zwernemann on the way to lunch in Belville
rode through a party of bubbles
chatted with Steve McNew into LaGrange
reminisced about previous trips with the Storks, McAngus clan and others
met several KSBJ riders
participated in a wonderful devotional led by Josh Kasinger
took pictures of bagpipes
conquered the hills of Buescher State Park with Randy Williams and Michael Zwernemann
witnessed nature's resiliency from last year's wildfires
failed to keep up with John Burns
drafted behind the tandem of Chris McHan and Kalai Reddick McHan,
was moved by the resolve of Randy Koctar and excitement of Vincent Clancy
witnessed a father and son take on MS while battling Down syndrome
slapped high fives with spectators and thanked countless volunteers, law enforcement and ride officials
I know I've overlooked many more memories/friends - and that's only a taste of why I get back on the bike every spring.
In cycling etiquette, we're not supposed to pass on the right. That's why every April - for the past 8 years and counting - you'll always find me "on your left".
