On Your Left

This past weekend I completed my 8th consecutive MS 150. In reality, I did way more than that.

I can't fit it all in but here's a few highlights:

  • carpooled at 5am with Hayden Andrew McHan and Michael Montalvo

  • chatted with Michael Zwernemann on the way to lunch in Belville

  • rode through a party of bubbles

  • chatted with Steve McNew into LaGrange

  • reminisced about previous trips with the Storks, McAngus clan and others

  • met several KSBJ riders

  • participated in a wonderful devotional led by Josh Kasinger

  • took pictures of bagpipes

  • conquered the hills of Buescher State Park with Randy Williams and Michael Zwernemann

  • witnessed nature's resiliency from last year's wildfires

  • failed to keep up with John Burns

  • drafted behind the tandem of Chris McHan and Kalai Reddick McHan,

  • was moved by the resolve of Randy Koctar and excitement of Vincent Clancy

  • witnessed a father and son take on MS while battling Down syndrome

  • slapped high fives with spectators and thanked countless volunteers, law enforcement and ride officials

I know I've overlooked many more memories/friends - and that's only a taste of why I get back on the bike every spring.

In cycling etiquette, we're not supposed to pass on the right. That's why every April - for the past 8 years and counting - you'll always find me "on your left".
