She Is

We don’t always know where we are or how we got here. Sometimes it feels like our immediate time and place are in two separate universes. But we never lose sight of the fact that we are on this road together. Ask me why I chose this path in life and my answer remains unchanged.

She is.

I get to the office and I punch the clock but she provides the glue for each ticking second in between “See you later” and “I’m back”. I may bring home the bacon but home is where the heart is. Ask me who keeps that pulse beating strong and I’ll tell you without hesitation.

She is.

I may have the brains but I certainly lack the brawn or beauty. What I make out of bits and bytes often lacks warmth and feeling. I tend to keep everything in order at the expense of laughter or tears. Ask me who shows me how to feel when I’d rather think and I will exclaim — modestly:

She is.

My family and friends prepared me. They brought me up and provided the compass for measuring who I am. They still play their part in the puzzle but there was previously a missing piece. Ask me who is a primary reason I find purpose even when I’m not perfect.

She is.

I don’t see things well without glasses unless they are right in front of my face. Yet, I often take for granted some of the most obvious blessings in front of me. Don’t we all?

There are many things that we tend to leave unsaid. But there are many things that we all need to hear.

If you are still looking for that soulmate, never stop searching. And if you have already found that special someone, never stop telling them how much they are appreciated.

Ask me who makes my world brighter even when the dark clouds appear and you already know the answer.

She is.
